How We Built DetailOS — Detailing Software That Works Like a Shop, Not a Spreadsheet

We didn't build DetailOS by reading a feature comparison chart. We built it by watching real detail shops — the kind where the owner is also the estimator, the detailer, the photographer, and the bookkeeper.

What we found was the same thing in shop after shop: spreadsheets for jobs, a camera roll for proof, and a Notes app for customer preferences. Nothing talked to anything else. Every handoff was friction.

What we built instead

DetailOS connects the pieces that were always supposed to be connected: the customer record, the vehicle, the service package, the photos, the proof packet, the invoice.

You open a job and see the customer, their vehicle, the package they chose, the status, and the before/after evidence — all on one screen. No tabs. No separate apps.

What we left out (on purpose)

Most shop software tries to do everything. DetailOS does the opposite. We left out automatic SMS sends, review requests, and payment collection from customer packets — not because we can't build them, but because those features need real-world validation before they go live.

When a feature ships in DetailOS, it ships because we've seen it work in a real shop. Not because a product manager wanted another checkbox.

Proof packets, not camera-roll chaos

Detailing is visual work. If you're not capturing proof photos, you're leaving money on the table when customers question what was done. But dumping photos into a generic folder doesn't help anyone.

DetailOS ties every photo to the specific job, creates customer-safe proof packets (no internal notes exposed), and keeps the evidence organized by default. No extra steps. No filing system to invent.

QuickBooks sync that actually works

We've seen enough "QuickBooks integration" that means "export a CSV and hope for the best." DetailOS syncs invoice records into QuickBooks with production-mode integration already wired. The data flows the right direction.

Built for setup, not self-serve

DetailOS isn't a sign-up-and-figure-it-out product. It's setup-assisted — meaning a real conversation happens before your shop goes live. We set it up with you, make sure the workflow fits, and only then hand over the keys.
